Silicoat® SILICONE COATING FOR PRINTED CIRCUIT ASSEMBLIES One-part, flexible, conformal coating for protection of printed circuit boards and other electrical applications. FEATURES:
DESCRIPTION: Silicoat is a flexible, conformal coating based on Transene electronic grade, translastic silicone materials. The product is specially designed to perform as an effective coating for the protection of printed circuit boards against moisture and corrosion . The protective coating also exhibits excellent dielectric properties. Silicoat is formulated as a one-part system easily applied by brushing, spraying or dipping. Cure is accomplished simply by air drying at room temperature. The cure is moisture catalyzed. PROPERTIES OF SILICOAT
APPLICATION: Silicoat is recommended as a protective coating for printed circuit assemblies and other electrical coating applications. The product is compatible with most copper-clad circuit board laminate materials described under Nema and Mil-P-13949D types of epoxy-glass, epoxy-paper and phenolic-paper. The adhesion of Silicoat is very good to glass, metal, rubber and most plastics. It is not recommended for acrylate or polycarbonate resins. Moisture resistance may be enhanced by applying two thin coats to avoid pinholes, though the application of a single coat of Silicoat suffices. Test results also show that Silicoat increases the electrical Q of a circuit with further improvement attained by adding coat thickness. The usual effective coat thickness is approximately 3 mils. See instructions for dilution with xylene and the relationship of the viscosity to the applied coat thickness. For electrical repair work Silicoat may be removed or stripped by soaking in xylene. |
